Active, confrontational resistance is the other side of the coin of revolution. If guerilla gardens and squatted buildings ever started to even come close to being so widespread they could feed a large amount of human need, state power would move in to take and destroy these things. I would hope to see fists in the air, and more.
I appreciate your response and your passion, Zach. Resistance breeds resistance. Positive community action is much more difficult to squash than violent resistance. The key is decentralization, localization, of how we live. As individuals and communities become increasingly self-sufficient, they eliminate their need for the role of large corporations, and it is our need for them that maintains their existence. The approach of which you speak has been enacted time and again, each time creating a power vacuum leading to a new oligarchy. It is time for a new way of being, my friend.
